Erected on the Lancer platform, the SUV was exhibited to the Indians at the Delhi Expo in January this year. This 5-seater will arrive with the petrol engine which the Hyundai Sonata Embera uses at present which will be wedded to a 6-speed manual transmission and also to a costlier flappy-paddle gearbox.

With Macpherson struts up front and multi-link setup backside, the Outlander will be qualified to do a skilled job on the tarmac and equally well off it. The car will be assembled in India, which will be one of the key factors for its lower cost, compared to the Honda CR-V and the Chevrolet Captiva. The Korean car maker and India's second largest car seller Hyundai motors India Limited, has launched its Verna Transform today. Hyundai Verna is a successful sedan and now Indians can buy the facelifted Verna, the Verna Transform, which was launched a couple of months back in Korea.
According to the company, the new Verna is priced from Rs. 6.56 lakh to Rs. 9.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new sedan, Verna Transform will be available in two engine options namely 1.6 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel.

Mr H W Park, Hyundai Motor India Managing Director and CEO is confident that the new Verna Transform sedan is all set to boost Hyundai's already superior line-up of products in India by raising the benchmark in the sedan (C segment) market.

Hyundai has sold 82,076 Verna cars so far in India since its launch in September 2006. But, the average looks of the car was a turn down to many buyers. But, now the refreshing looks of Verna, which is a contemporary model sold in International markets, will definitely attract the Sedan buyers in the country.

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10

- The 1.0-litre K-series engine is expected to propel the new Alto K10 from naught to 100 km/h in 13.3 seconds (the older Alto did a 0-100 km/h in more than 20 seconds!)

- The new car claims to deliver an overall fuel efficiency of 20.2 kmpl which is more or less similar to the older Alto. This is in fact a great value addition considering the Alto still maintains its fuel efficiency in spite of a higher capacity engine and a 7-odd seconds quicker naught to 100 km/h sprint.

Alto K10 became more powerful with the engine and this engine also offer it a class-beating fuel efficiency figure. For the light and zippy car, the company is claiming an ARAI approved figure of 20.2 kmpl. With new headlamps, a new radiator grille and revised interiors, which impart a sense of modernity to Maruti’s reputed people’s carrier, Alto K10 has also been suitably refreshed on the inside and the outside to distinguish it from its older sibling.

Except for the retuning of suspension and booster assisted braking system, there are not much mechanical changes. New Alto K10 engine is the new stuff but Maruti already uses it in A-star, Estilo and Wagon-R. 68PS of maximum power at 6200rpm and 90Nm of maximum torque at 3500rpm is produced by the K-series under the hood of Alto K10 produces. On the other side, because of the new engine, Alto k10 has gained just 50kgs. Effect is that, Alto K10 reaches 100kmphs in 13.3 seconds as opposed to 17.3 seconds by Alto.

What Skoda has for India this year is the Skoda Fabia. The Fabia comes in 3 versions - a hatchback, a sedan and an estate (Combi). So far, Skoda has not decided which is the ideal car it should offer India.
"Both Skoda Fabia and Octavia II are expected to hit the Indian roads around October 2005," the Skoda Auto India Managing Director Mr Imran Hassen, said here at the launch of the turbo version of Skoda Octavia Rider. Different reports have put the launch date at anywhere from mid-2005 to end-2005.

Badged after a concept introduced back in 2006, the 2012 Skoda Joyster is on its way, as it has been approved by the Czech manufacturer. According to the Germans at Auto Bild, the vehicle, which is expected to be the cheapest Skoda model in the lineup, will be based on the Volkswagen Up!

The model, scheduled for launch in the first half of 2012 for under EUR 9,000, will most likely compete against the Toyota iQ and Peugeot 107.

According to auto industry sources, the new version of Fabia will be produced with a higher percentage of Indianised components comparing the existing model of this car. However, the company have not made any announcement about this issue.
